Grand pianos offer a number of potential advantages over upright (vertical) pianos, especially those of length greater than around 5’6”. Aesthetically too, many would agree that a grand piano lends a certain presence which an upright piano lacks. A good grand piano offers a superior touch, or feel, when compared to an upright, with a potentially faster rate of repetition. Damping on a grand also tends to be crisper and more efficient. The quality of new grand pianos on the market varies widely, and prices accordingly range from around £6,000 to £60,000 or more. We are always happy to guide our customers through the maze of possibilities. This may be your first (and perhaps only) purchase of a grand piano. We’ve purchased thousands since 1931, so why not take advantage of our experience?
